At least six members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country's largest rebel group, were killed in airstrikes on its camp.
"A joint operation killed six rebels who led blackmailing and intimidation of civilians, shop-owners, industrialists, cattle ranchers and transportation workers in the country's central and eastern regions," a report issued by police said.
"The air force bombarded the camp located along the La Esmeralda trail, in the rural zone of El Castillo, the army commandos then quickly occupied the site," Xinhua quoted police as saying.
Police said authorities seized weapons, hard drives with information on victims of extortion and FARC's Eastern Bloc.
The government and the FARC have been engaged in peace talks for nearly two years to try to end their five-decade conflict, but fighting between the two sides still continues.
