An Indian Army soldier was injured on Wednesday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district where an infiltration bid was foiled.
Defence Ministry sources said alert troopers noticed suspicious movement on the LoC in the Nowshera sector around 5.15 a.m.
"A group of heavily armed intruders was challenged after which firing exchanges started between the troopers and the intruders. One soldier sustained injuries during the operation," informed sources said.
The injured soldier has been admitted to hospital.
"The infiltration attempt was supported by Pakistan Army that gave cover fire to the infiltrating terrorists," the sources said.
The infiltration attempt on Wednesday occurred a day after Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged sweets on the LoC and the international border to felicitate each other on the Independence Day of the two countries.
