Schools across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Wednesday paid tribute to the children killed in the terrorist attack in Pakistan's Peshawar city.
Students in government-run and private schools in the two Telugu-speaking states observed a two-minute silence in memory of the children massacred in the attack on an army-run school.
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call, schools observed the silence.
Employees in some government offices also observed the silence and prayed for the victims.
Students of Amma Concept School at Ramanthapur in Hyderabad took out a peace rally. The students gathered at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and raised slogans denouncing the barbaric act of terrorists.
Clutching newspapers, the students raised the slogan, "Down with terrorism". Speaking on the occasion, the children and staff members called for a collective effort to save children and to put an end to the terrorism.
Students of Howard Public School and St. Anthony's School gathered for a candle light march to remember the innocent children killed in one of the worst-ever terror attacks. They carried placards with the slogan, "Stop terrorism".
St. Peter's School also organised a rally to condemn the dastardly act of terrorists and to pay the tribute to the victims.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said all precautionary measures were being taken in the city in the wake of the Peshawar attack.
