Vibrant Gujarat Summit may be deferred by a week

The BJP government in Narendra Modi's home state is believed to have decided to postpone the mega investment summit -- Vibrant Global Investors Summit 2019 -- by about a week.

The biennial event, held since 2003 to attract investors to the state, has since its inception seen a consistent growth over the years, and is a pet project of then of and now

All Summit events held to date were held three days prior to the kite festival on January 14. That is why, the forthcoming ninth edition of the event is now likely to be held from January 18 to 20, 2019.

"This time the rescheduling has been forced primarily to accommodate mega Kumbh Mela to be held in during the second week of January. Moreover, wishes to make it possible for many of the NRIs attending to be able to travel to his parliamentary constituency and attend 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas between January 21 and 23, 2019," a said.
