Village headman shot dead in Kashmir

A village headman in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district was shot dead by separatist guerrillas on Wednesday, police said.

"Militants shot at Muhammad Yusuf Bhat, the 'numbardar' (village headman) of Wangam village in Pulwama district this evening. Bhat died on the spot," a senior police officer told IANS here.

A case has been registered and investigations have been started, he added.
