At a round table last week between the information & broadcasting ministry and the CEOs of broadcasting companies, minister Manish Tewari ended his speech saying by the time they meet again in 2020, the country's broadcasting paradigm would have changed completely with better technology and digitisation. Immediately after, an official asked, "Does this mean that you have accepted defeat already and will only come back by 2020?" A shocked Tewari, who nevertheless remained smiling throughout, clarified that 2020 referred to the time it would take before back-end technologies improved and not his party's election prospects.
