A joy ride

Delhi Metro’s new Bombardier coaches look better and provide a comfortable ride, but there was, for a while, another unexpected reason for commuters to smile. The Hindi announcer’s pronunciation of Jor Bagh Station made it sound like “Chor (thief) Bagh,” which invariably provoked grins from commuters. The metro authorities, however, have not yet reacted to this unintended faux pas. The problem, it should be added, does not apply to the older Mitsubishi coaches.
