When BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava was asked during a press meet last week to explain how sick PSUs could hope to record profits if they continued to dole out freebies to customers, he said they should focus on making customers 'stress-free', that is, offer them hassle-free services. Paradoxically, BSNL subscribers continue to complain of frequent call drops, even as the operator has started offering unlimited free calls across India over its landline network from 9 pm to 7 am and made roaming free for all its subscribers.
