Dead on arrival

Recently, the Karnataka Assembly adopted a resolution mourning the death of Neelakantarao Patil, who represented the Shiggaon constituency. But it was the family of N V Patil, former MLA of Ramdurg in Belgaum district, who were in for a big shock. The staff of the Karnataka Assembly confused the two Patils and, first, sent the obituary notice to the former MLA’s home and then instructed Treasury officials to stop paying him his pension and to transfer it to his wife.
