Gift of grinder

With due respect to the departed former President, everyone seems to have an APJ Abdul Kalam story. One such story going around on WhatsApp groups is narrated by Chennai-based exporter Sowbhagya Enterprises' senior executive A Balasubramaniam: "APJ was gifted a wet grinder at a function in Erode. He refused it as a gift, but wanted the grinder for his home. So, he gave a cheque in favour of our company. We had not deposited it as a mark of honour. However, we got a call from his office to deposit the cheque or the grinder would be returned. Hats off to him. Nation's pride."
