The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), concerned with what it believes is a lack of understanding of the organisation and its work among mainstream journalists, has started holding awareness programmes, Sangh Parichay Varg, in different cities. These are meant exclusively for journalists, particularly those from English language newspapers and television channels. One such programme was organised in Delhi last Friday. Addressed by RSS media cell chief Manmohan Vaidya, the programme was well attended. The RSS is also busy distributing a new book, Know About RSS, written by former journalist Arun Anand. Given the positive response the book has generated, and satisfied that it is "factual", the RSS leadership has ordered nearly 50,000 copies of the book that it plans to distribute around the country.
