Letters: Bureaucracy begone

This refers to Devesh Kapur’s article “The Indian state and India’s future” (November 14). There is no doubt that the bureaucracy simply cannot live up to the vastly different and complex needs of modern-day governance. Worse, as pointed out in the article, bureaucratic assignments don’t seem to attract talent. Perhaps, it is time for the government to seriously start withdrawing from as many sectors as it can and leave it to the people to work out a dynamic of their own.
