Letters: Judicious use of water

Image

Business Standard New Delhi
With reference to "Cauvery dispute: Focus on the present" (October 7), the writer rightly stresses giving priority to drinking water rather than irrigation. Tamil Nadu would do well to utilise its long coastline by setting up de-salination plants. Karnataka could increase water use efficiency with the help of government schemes. The Cauvery dispute should not be seen from the points of view of irrigation and domestic need for water, but from a business and logistical standpoint. There is sufficient water, but the onus lies on us to use it judiciously.
Prateek Shendre, Bidar
