In the past, road transport ministry press conferences were rarely attended by Planning Commission members. Understandable, since the central planning body had sharply questioned PPP bidding norms. But this appears to have changed after C P Joshi took charge. At his first press conference, Planning Commission Advisor Gajendra Haldea, the man at the centre of the arguments with former minister Kamal Nath, was conspicuous by his presence, a fact that had several ministry officials grumbling.
