It’s not even Budget time but the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has closed its doors to journalists. Last last week, the department issued an order saying journalists or media-people would not be allowed inside the CBDT wing. “They may contact media coordinator, CBDT for any query,” said the order, which was put up at the entrance to the CBDT wing in North Block. The notice may not deter news-hungry journalists, but officials are definitely abiding by the order.
