Once upon a time, long long ago, around 12 months to be more precise, there was a terrible drought. Not that the people of India were unfamiliar with droughts, but this one came at a particularly inopportune time. It spoilt the party. Here was the rest of the world still sunk in the Great Recession, while India had picked itself up in its new sprightliness and was forging ahead. And then came the drought, causing food prices to shoot up and blotting the copybook of the new Shining India with a high inflation rate.
