Yellow for Thursday

Former actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament (MP) from Mathura Hema Malini walked into the Lok Sabha on Thursday resplendent in a yellow sari. Some benches away from her sat Anupriya Patel, the MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur who represents Apna Dal, an ally of the BJP.

Even Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti's attire wasn't the usual saffron, but yellow. Half a dozen male MPs, too, wore starched yellow shirts. When asked, an MP said that wearing yellow and eating yellow-coloured food such as peeli dal on Thursdays was considered auspicious.
