The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday disrupted the House proceedings over the Centre informing the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that there appears a prima facie case of money laundering against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
The members of the Opposition demanded a discussion; the demand was rejected by Speaker B B L Butail. This angered the Opposition and the members raised slogans against Singh. Speaking to reporters outside the House, Singh said he would fight the case but he had not received any notice from the high court.
The Delhi High Court had on Wednesday reportedly asked the Income Tax Department to file before it a tax assessment record and other documents of Singh within a week. "As the high court is already looking into the matter I do not wish to comment." Singh said.
"But I would like to say the BJP is trying to draw unnecessary inferences from this issue. I would advise them to allow the law to take its course. Some sections of the central government are trying to implicate me in false cases. The leader of Opposition P K Dhumal is trying to divert the attention from his own vigilance cases."
