BJP to launch door-to-door campaign to burst 'pro-corporate' myth: Shah

Says farmers in rural areas would get four times compensation if government acquires their land

Shashikant Trivedi Bhopal
BJP president Amit Shah today said called his party workers to retaliate against alleged "pro-corporate" propaganda created against Modi-led BJP government. Shah said his party would launch a door-to-door campaign in which his party workers would reach every farmer to defuse the opposition move to spread the "lies" that Modi government would snatch away land from farmers to hand it over to corporate houses.

"There is propaganda against Land Acquisition bill. I want to assured all the farmers that our government will not give even an inch of land to corporate houses. Don't believe in the lies and propaganda which is being spread by some people," he said here at a function of party workers on good governance, "Our party workers would launch Mahasampark Abhiyan (door to door campaign) to tell the truth about land Bill."

He said farmers in rural areas would get four times compensation if government acquires their land. "But this land would be acquired only for civic amenities like school, hospitals and road etc."

He called all party workers to aggressively participate in 'Mahasampark Abhiyan' to make all farmers and people of the country aware against this propaganda. "Our workers will reach every door-step and to tell about the Bill," Shah asserted and added, "They talk about farmers but during the Congress rule, farmers hit by unseasonal rains, would get compensation only if crop losses are more than 50 percent. But Modi-led NDA government has amended these criteria in the interest of farmers. Now farmers can get compensation if losses are 33 percent."

The compensation amount, he said, was also now one-and-a-half times more. Coming down on Congress he alleged that a number of scam came to fore when the UPA government was in regime while Modi-led NDA government had racked in Rs 2 lakh crore by auction of 20 coal blocks only of the total 220 blocks.

"They had given away these blocks at throwaway price of Rs 600 crore," Shah said. Lauding efforts of Modi-led NDA government Shah said when Atal Behari Vajpayee took saddle from Congress, country's growth stood at 4.4% which reached 8.4% during his regime. When Congress came back to power it slipped again to 4.4%. "Now in the last twelve months it has touched 5.7 percent. And, I am confident that it would be in double digit when our government will complete its first tenure in 2019," he said.
