'Prevent stocked wheat from getting damage or face action'

Directing the officials to take steps to safeguard wheat stocked in open areas, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Javed Usmani during a review meeting with Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state warehousing corporation officials said strict action will be taken taken against officials concerned if the foodgrain stored in the open area was damaged.

He directed the warehousing corporation officials to purchase items required for preventing the wheat from getting damaged.

The wheat stored in open areas should be lifted first, he said and asked FCI to ensure pending payment of the purchase agencies speedily.

He expressed displeasure over delay in taking delivery of wheat at identified godowns by FCI.
