1 killed in celebratory firing in UP

A band member was killed in celebratory firing at a wedding in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said today.

The incident occurred last night in Dewalbeer village when an unidentified man started firing using a country-made pistol to celebrate the wedding, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said.

Raghunath Ram, the band member, was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot, he said.

A case has been registered, the police said, adding that further investigation is on.
