A local court in South 24 Parganas district today acquitted 10 persons accused in 2011 Magrahat-Sangrampur hooch tragedy, in which 170 people had died.
Diamond Harbour ADJ Anjali Sinha also acquitted prime accused Noor Islam Fakir alias Khoda Badsha, his wife Shakila Bibi and eight others arrested in connection with the hooch tragedy occurred in December 2011.
Eight of them were acquitted because of lack of evidence against them.
Badsha, the owner of a flourishing illicit country liquor business was held prima facie responsible for the tragedy.
