10 tannery workers killed as effluent tank collapses

Ten labourers, including nine hailing from West Bengal, were killed when an effluent tank at a tannery collapsed near here today.

The labourers were sleeping under the tank when it collapsed this morning at the private tannery in Ranipet in the district, police said.

Of the ten deceased, nine were from West Bengal and the other hailed from Tamil Nadu, they said, adding three persons had been rescued.
