134 cartons smuggled liquor seized

A District Excise Department team today seized 134 cartons of smuggled liquor bottles from Greater Noida west area.

An FIR has been lodged at Bisrakh police station in this connection. The consignment was seized by the team, led by Excise Inspector Upinder Singh, when it was being transported in a vehicle.

The seized consignment included 124 cartons of beer and 10 cartons of country liquor.

"Mafias smuggle liquor into Noida and Greater Noida from Haryana where the rates are cheaper. Excise team and police regularly inspect vehicles on borders to check smuggling," said Excise official Ram Ujagir Maurya.
