The government today said 15 of the 23 demands of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) have been settled and consultations are in advanced stage as far as their major demand is concerned.
Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister M M Pallam Raju in a written reply to a query in Rajya Sabha said 15 out of the 23 demands of JVNs have already been settled.
"The major demand of employees was introduction of pension-cum-GPF scheme for employees recruited before January 1, 2004. For this, inter-ministerial consultations have already been started and are presently at an advanced stage," he said.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of JNVs had gone on a strike on February 6 for fulfilment of their various demands. After a detail discussion, it was called off on February 15.
The list of 23 demands included pension to all employees who joined prior to January 1, 2004, ten per cent special allowance for non teaching staff, defining working hours for all categories of employees.
