Press Trust of India New Delhi
Global design marvels such as The Carve' from Norway 'Split House' from China, 'Dune House' from New Zealand and the Liberty Place from Australia besides 'The Chapel' in Vietnam which bagged the 'Building of the Year' at the Singapore World Architecture Festival will soon go on display here.

Aspiring architects, interior designers besides the general public can gear up to feast their eyes on 350 shortlisted design entries from across 30 categories designed by architects from over 65 countries at the upcoming World Architecture Festival, a design tour of 16 cities in India beginning here on March 9.

"The idea of bringing this tour in India is to help aspiring and practising architects of the country to appreciate originality. There is a need to think beyond heritage in order to create modern architecture which will be regarded as iconic in times to come," says Vinit Kumar Tiwari, Country Head (Ply & Board), Greenply Industries Limited, one of the festival organisers

Thyagaraj Sports Complex would host the event on March 9 and then move to the School of Planning and Architecture on March 11.

"The architect and student community here are very receptive to international designs and architecture. The Design Tour will inspire the designer and architect's fraternity for creating a legacy of international-standard architecture in India," Tiwari said.
