170 kg of ganja seized, three arrested

About 170 kg of ganja being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu has been seized and three persons arrested in this connection, Narcotics Control Bureau said here today.

Acting on a tip off, a team of officers from the Bureau intercepted a car here last night and seized 80 polythene packets of ganja kept in the rear trunk of the vehicle and arrested two occupants in it, they said.

"The contraband was being transported from Vishakapatnam to Madurai. It was worth around Rs 50 lakh in illegal market", NCB Zonal Director Prem Anand Sinha said in a statement.

Another person was arrested in Madurai on information given by the duo.
 

"Inquiries are being conducted with the arrested to find about the drug trafficking network behind them", he said.
