Two persons were arrested on charges of arms smuggling and a huge cache of firearms were seized from them by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Hathras district, the police said today.
On a tip off, an STF team arrested them from the Baudh Vihar trisection yesterday and seized 91 country-made pistols, a .315 bore gun and some cash, a spokesman said.
One of their accomplices managed to escape, he said.
During interrogation, the accused said they used to bring the arms from Sitapur and sell these here for a commission, the spokesman claimed.
A case has been registered against them and the matter is being investigated, he added.
