Two sub-inspectors of police in Amethi district have been suspended for dereliction of duty.

District Superintendent of Police Hira Lal today ordered suspension of Ramganj police outpost in-charge O P Singh and sub-inspector of Gauriganj police station P N Saroj. Both of them have been sent to Police Lines.

Singh was suspended after complaints against him of colluding with mining mafias were found to be true.

"There were repeated complaints against the in-charge of Ramjanj police outpost of leaving free hand to mining mafias, and thus ignoring the government's norms and orders," the SP said.

Singh was found guilty of aiding illegal mining in Takia, Bajethi, Gyanipur and Belsauna villages under Piparpur police station. Following several complaints, Amethi Circle Officer R K Chaturvedi inquired into the matter and found them to be correct, the SP added.

The sub-inspector of Gauriganj police station, P N Saroj, was suspended on the charges of misbehaviour with the public and dereliction in investigation of some cases.
