2 girls drown in river in Sitapur

Two minor girls drowned in Chouka river in Reosa area here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when sisters Neha (10) and Gayatri (7) had gone to collect soil, they said.

Their mother Chandana (45) and sister Parul (4) jumped into the river to save them, police said, adding, they were rescued by the locals.

Police said that their condition was critical and both were referred to a district hospital, Sitapur.
