Police today arrested two inter- state drug peddlers here and recovered 1.5 kg opium worth Rs 5 lakh from their possession.
The duo have been identified as Noordin and Jaswinder Singh, both residents of Hoshiarpur district, police said.
"While 400 gram opium was seized from Noordin, 1.1 kg opium was seized from Jaswinder, a former truck driver," said Phagwara SP Harwinder Singh.
"They were arrested at a special checkpost at Bhogpur T- point when they were coming towards Phagwara from Hoshiarpur in an SUV," Singh said.
"The arrests were made under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act," he said.
