2 killed, 7 injured in hit-and-run incident in Gujarat

A father-son duo was killed and seven persons severely injured after they were allegedly hit by an unidentified car in Shah-e-Alam area here today, police said.

The incident took place at 2.30 AM near Amma mosque, when several persons were sleeping outside their homes alongside the road due to power failure in that area, Isanpur police station inspector G R Rabari said.

"The injured told us that a car suddenly came and hit them. The speeding vehicle not only hit parked vehicles but also hit several persons who were sleeping near their homes alongside the road. After the accident, the driver fled away with the vehicle," he said.
 

According to police, 45-year-old Faiz Mohammad Shaikh who was sleeping on the road was killed on the spot while his son Faizal, 17, later succumbed to the injuries in a hospital.

"Seven others were admitted to LG Hospital and Civil Hospital. We have found several broken pieces of that car from the spot and it will help us in identifying the vehicle" the officer said.

A case has been registered in this connection against unidentified person and investigations are underway, he added.
