Two migrant construction workers from West Bengal were today killed when a 10-foot wall collapsed on them when they were digging a trench here.
"The workers were digging a trench when the mishap occurred. An adjacent wall fell on them pushing them several feet into the trench," Fire and Rescue Station Officer P Vijayakumar told PTI.
The labourers, later identified as Robin Bagan (35) and Sunil Bagan (50), were working for a contractor of the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board in Shenoy Nagar.
"They were lying under several feet of rubble and with support of our emergency care unit, who brought special equipment, we pulled them out," Vijayakumar said, adding doctors at a hospital later declared them brought dead.
Police said they were probing if there was negligence on the part of anyone.
