Two poachers were killed and a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from them by forest guards inside Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
According to Forest Department officials, two poachers were shot dead by the forest protection force last night at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
A gang of poachers entered the Sanctuary with an aim to kill rhinos, but were spotted by armed forest guards, they said adding, when the security personnel asked the poachers to stop, they fired on them.

The forest guards retaliated and killed two poachers on the spot, while a few others escaped.
Officials said the security personnel recovered one rifle and several rounds of ammunitions from the spot.
