Two police constables were hacked in a clash between two groups over worshipping rights during a temple festival, in the district today, police said.
The two head constables intervened in a quarrel between the groups and tried to broker peace, but were attacked with sickles by one group, they said.
The injured constables, Omar and Mohan, have been hospitalised, the police said, adding they have launched a hunt for four people, including an advocate, in connection with the attack.
A huge posse of police personnel has been posted in the area.
