Two travel agents working with
well-known travel agencies in the city were arrested for allegedly arranging visas based on false documents, police said today.
Anil Paul, working as an executive in News Airways Travel Delhi Pvt Ltd, had allegedly colluded with another travel agent Rajinder Verma to arrange visas for 24 people posing as participants of a seminar of Amway India Enterprises to be held in Australia, Ajay Chaudhry, Additional Commissioner of Police, South East District, said.
The duo had planned to arrange the visas for which they would charge Rs 3-4 lakhs from each of the applicants who would pose as participants of the seminar and travel to Australia, he said.
"Investigations into the details of the 24 applicants showed they were not the participants of the seminar in Melbourne which helped in nabbing the culprits," he added.
The police have recoved four passports and several other forged documents from the accused.
