20 child labourers rescued in UP

In a joint operation by the district administration, Labour department and police, twenty child labourers were today rescued from a carpet factory, a senior officer said here.

In the joint operation, 20 child labourers ageing from 9 years to 13 years were rescued from the carpet unit in Kazipur locality in Kotwali area this afternoon, Assistant Labour Commissioner M L Pal said.

He said that all the children were from brought from Arariya district in Bihar.

The carpet unit owner Mahendra Maurya managed to escape from the spot, he added.
