20-year-old ends life, inlaws booked for dowry death

A young married woman allegedly ended her life by hanging herself at Bhoorthal Jat village here, prompting the police to register a case of dowry death against her in-laws today.

Jyoti Yadav (20), wife of Kedar Yadav, took the extreme step last evening, police said.

The Rewari Sadar police has registered a case of dowry death against her husband Kedar Yadav, father-in-law Prem Chand Yadav, mother-in-law Murti Devi and two others, residents of Bhoorthal Jat Village, on a complaint filed by Mahender Singh Yadav, father of the deceased and a resident of Alwar district in Rajasthan.

The complainant alleged that Jyoti, who got married to Kedar on March 14, 2012, was persistently harassed over dowry by her in-laws.
 

A senior police official said efforts were on to apprehend the accused.
