20-year-old youth found murdered in Punjab

A 20-year-old youth was found murdered in Smadh Bahai village here, police said today.

The deceased has been identified as Gurjant Singh, who used to run a furniture shop in Bathinda district, and the body was found yesterday near his house, police said.

He left home yesterday on receiving a call on his mobile but did not return, following which his parents lodged a complaint with police, they said.

Gurjant's body was found by his parents near their house when they were going to Gurdwara, police said.

Prima facie, it appears that he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, they said, adding, a case has been registered and investigation was underway.
