26 babies born in CATS ambulances since May this year

Encouraged by effective services provided by state-run ambulances in which 26 babies were delivered onboard since May this year, Delhi Government has decided to add a fleet of 110 such ambulances in 2015.

By March, next year, a fleet of 110 more CATS ambulances will be added to the existing number of ambulances, said a senior Delhi government official.

"At present there are 152 ambulances which includes 21 Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, 10 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances and 121 Patient Transporting ambulances (PTA).

"We are now adding 110 more CATS ambulances the prototypes for which have already been submitted," said the official.
 

"Since May, 26 babies were born in moving ambulances available with the Central Accident Trauma Services (CATS) this year," the official said.

He said that the control room had received 1.47 calls this year and CATS ambulances have transported more than 1.3 lakh patients and accident victims and around 19,000 pregnant mothers.

Also, the Health Department of Delhi government will come up with a Hi-tech Control room in order to offer prompt and effectice services, reducing the response time further.

"The Hi-tech control room will come up at Rajeev Gandhi Super Speciality hospital," the officer added.
