As many as 287 assistant sub-inspectors of police were promoted to the rank of sub-inspectors in Jammu region on Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.
He said the Inspector General of Police (IG), Jammu Zone, M K Sinha issued the formal promotion order.
Sinha congratulated the officers and lauded their efforts in earning the promotion, the spokesperson said.
He said the IG expressed hope that the promoted officers will work with more zeal and enthusiasm to make the department proud.
