29 bags of explosive chemicals seized

Twentynine bags of explosive chemicals used in making crackers were seized from a vehicle and its driver was arrested for transporting them without proper documents near here today, police said.

The seizure was made during a vehicle check ordered by the District Superintendent of Police following a tip-off that large quantities of chemicals were being illegally transported, police said.

A police team led by Inspector Ramanarayanan found 29 bags of explosive chemicals in the vehicle.

Driver Kannan said the consignment was being transported for a fireworks factory.
