3,600 bottles of illicit liquor seized, 1 arrested

Police has arrested a bootlegger and seized 3,600 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession at a check post here.

Maintaining a strict vigil in the run up to by-polls in Kairana Assembly of Shamli district, police and officials of excise department intercepted a vehicle and seized the bottles, said SHO of Kairana, PK Sharma.

The large amount of liquor was being smuggled through the adjoining Haryana border.

Kairana assembly will go to polls on October 15.
