Three cases have been registered in southwest Delhi's Chhawla area in connection with alleged chopping off of some women's braid by unidentified persons, police said today.

Police said they have procured CCTV footage in which three men could be seen roaming in the area. They said the accused persons break into the houses of women, cut their hair and also steal items.

"The victims alleged that when the incident happened, they were present at home and their houses were locked from inside and when their hair was chopped off, they did not notice anybody," police said.

It is suspected that the accused administered a sedative so that the victims are not able to offer any resistance.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surender Kumar said three persons have been seen from a CCTV footage and the police have developed photographs of the accused and efforts are on to get a breakthrough in the case.

"There is no witchcraft angle in the case," he added.

"We are verifying the allegations of women. We have sent some samples for forensic examination," he said.
