3 children killed as tree uprooted by storm falls on hut

Three children were killed and another was injured after a tree uprooted by a storm fell over their hut in the Mori area of Uttarkashi district today, a government official said.

The tree fell on the hut inBhankwad village around 6 pm today killing the three children who were inside it -- aged five, three and one year -- on the spot, and leaving another badly injured, SDM Purola Puran Singh Rana said.

The seven-year-old child who received serious injuries in the incident has been rushed to a hospital, the official said.

A team of state disaster response force, police and forest department has been rushed to the spot, the SDM said on his way to the village.
