Three girls have been arrested in connection with trying to smuggle 15 kilogrammes of opium worth Rs 25 million to India in Western Nepal, police said today.

The girls were trying to smuggle the drugs to India and were held at Belhiya along the Nepal-India border.

"They were arrested while taking the drugs to the border area for supplying them to the Indian market," police said.

During a security check, the police team found that the girls were hiding the opium in their private parts, they said.

The girls in the course of interrogation told the police that they had taken the job to smuggle 15 kilogrammes of opium to Sunauli, a well-known transit point between India and Nepal, from Butwal.

The market price of the opium seized from the girls is estimated to be Rs 25 million, the police said.
