Three persons, including a sarpanch, were killed and nine others injured when an SUV they were travelling in collided head-on with a tractor in Gariyaband district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
The accident happened late last night near Sorid village, Fingeshwar Police Station House Officer (SHO) Anup Nag said.
At least 12 people from Kuderadadar village of Gariyaband district's Chhura region had gone for an engagement ceremony to Mahasamund district.

While they were returning, their vehicle collided with a tractor coming from the opposite direction between Sorid and Amethi villages, leaving three people dead, the SHO said.
Kuderadadar village sarpanch Ganesh Ram Dhruv (40), Bhuvneshwar Sahu (30) and the driver Deepak Chandrakar (45), died in the mishap, he said.
A police team took the nine injured to a nearby hospital, where they were said to be out of danger, he said.
A complaint has been registered in this connection and a probe was on, he said.
