4 killed, 3 hurt in SUV-van collision in MP

Four persons were killed and three others seriously injured when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) collided with a pick-up van near here in the early hours today, police said.

The SUV was coming to Maxi from Ujjain when it collided with a pick-up van near Maxi police station, about 30 kms from here, Assistant sub-inspector of police B L Patel said.

Four persons - Rajesh Shivhara (26), Hemant Chouksey (19) (both residents of Guna), and Dipak Maratha (25) and Rahul Rajput (23) (both residents of Ujjain) - died on the spot in the accident, he said.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital in Ujjain district for treatment, he said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
 

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, the ASI said.
