3 more arrested in fake job racket

Three more persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the racket which saw several job-seekers across the country being duped upon the promise of employment with a car-manufacturing company, police said today.

With the latest arrests, the number of people apprehended in the case has reached 16.

The arrested trio have been identified as Anil Kumar (33), Jitendra Kumar (33) and Sujit Kumar Dubey (32). They were nabbed by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.

Thirteen alleged members of the gang, including retailers of phone companies and two Nigerian nationals, said to be the masterminds behind the racket, were arrested in November and December last year, police said.
 

Police have recovered three laptops, hard disk drives, printers, internet dongles, mobile phones, ATM cards, 500 inactive and active SIM cards, etc. During the probe into the case.

"Job-seekers from different parts of the country were cheated by the gang in the recent past. These people received emails with the subject, 'Maruti Suzuki India Interview Call', offering handsome salary packages," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Yadav.

The victims were told that they had been selected for a job interview and "asked to deposit a refundable cash security of Rs 15,990 in favour of the company's HRD accountant at any SBI branch," Yadav added.

"They were told that this (the security deposit) was meant to discourage non-serious candidates," said Yadav.

The investigation in the case was taken up on the basis of a complaint by Niranjan Kumar Ramamurthy, a resident of Bangalore.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused had set up several SBI bank accounts across India while the mobile phones used by them had been obtained against fake IDs, police added.
