Three police officials posted at Nathuwala west police post, ASI Jarnail Singh and two Head Constables Jasbir Singh and Head Constable Devinder Singh have been dismissed from service, SSP Kamaljit Singh Dhillon said.

Acting on a tip off, a raid was conducted at Nathuwala police post last night, the police official said, adding, 168 kg poppy husk, 66 liquor bottles and Rs 40,000 cash were seized from Jarnail and Jasbir.

Jarnail and Jasbir have been arrested, while Devinder is still absconding, the SSP said.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Excise Act has been registered against the accused.

The three police officials had links with smugglers and were part of a drug supplying gang, Dhillon said.

A smuggler Binder Singh alias Bhola used to provide poppy husk to the accused policemen and then they further supplied it to other smugglers identified as Gurbhag Singh and Iqbal Singh, he said.
